Dr Christopher McIver
Practice Owner (BVSc PGCE)
Chris grew up in Liverpool, UK and studied Veterinary Science at the University of Bristol in the UK. Since graduating in 1994 he has worked mostly in small animal practice with some time spent treating farm animals and horses. Chris has worked within a large specialist clinic at Wimbledon, UK, as an emergency and critical care vet. After two years of night work he realised that being a creature of the night was not a long term choice so he took a career break and followed Debra, his wife into teaching at Secondary School level and from 2004 Chris taught high school science for the next 5 years.
In January 2011 Chris joined the University of Sydney Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Camden, NSW, a rural vet teaching practice and was Unit Head of the first opinion small animal unit where he was responsible for teaching final year students practical medicine and surgery while managing the day to day work of a vet practice. After spending holidays watching the Tour down Under in Adelaide he decided to make the move to South Australia and was delighted to become the new proprietor of the Reynella Veterinary Clinic.
Chris has partipated in many marathons, half marathons, and other distance races. He has quickly improved his times to be able to consistently run a sub-three hour marathon, and many an overseas holiday included a marathon. To further push his athletic boundaries, Chris has since taken up triathlons and within a year competed in the Melbourne Ironman. This was followed in May 2014 with the Port Macquarie Ironman and in December 2014 with the Busselton Ironman. In July 2015 he competed in the Cairns Ironman and there will be more to follow when time and training permit. He participated in the 2015 Tour Downunder Cancer Council Beat Cancer team where he rode each stage of the tour in the hours preceding the professional teams, and experienced the whole pro-rider tour.
The move to Adelaide was one of the best decisions Chris and Debra have made. Reynella Veterinary Clinic is a happy and bustling place to work and very much enhanced by the wonderful clients and their adorable pets, and the dedicated and caring staff who tend to them.

Debra Crichton
Practice Owner (BIT PGCE)
Debra grew up in the picturesque Lake Macquarie region of Newcastle, NSW. Even her high school was on the lake which was a major distraction during some lessons. She spent a lot of her childhood with her parents and siblings on one of the many beaches in the region fishing, or at the lake gathering prawns. Weekends were spent at places like ‘Mungo Brush’, ‘Lemon Tree Passage’, or ‘Submarine Beach’ – all for the fishing. Holidays were at Tuncurry, Crescent Head, and Byron Bay – before it became the alternative lifestyle mecca it is today.
She moved to Darwin for a short stint and after 9 years and one child later decided the time to move south had come and so headed for Canberra. Working at the Department of Social Security in the fraud and data matching division developed her logical and analytical awareness and she enrolled at the University of Canberra to study Computer Studies part time, graduating with a Bachelor of Information Technology.
In early 1998 she decided to move to London with her daughter - and then met Chris. She continued with her plans and headed off in August 1998. After working with a major retailer for 9 months on contract she secured permanent work with another major clothing retailer in central London and stayed with them for four years before leaving to pursue studies which qualified her to teach ICT at secondary schools. Chris had returned to London in July 1999 and so they made a life for themselves in West London and availed themselves of all that London had to offer.
Debra spent six years at a grammar school near Slough and would watch the incoming and outgoing jets as they passed by. After a while the sight of the flying kangaroo got too much and so they decided to move back to Australia. By this time her daughter was completing her PhD in Ecology in Scotland so they packed up Chica, their German Shepherd and their goods and headed home – 12 years after leaving Australia.
The move to Adelaide was a dream come true and one that is appreciated every day.

Jesse Siepmann
Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV (trainee))
Jesse contacted our clinic at the right time. He was half way through his Open Colleges training and needed a new clinic, just as we needed a qualified nurse. We were more than happy to assist him in completing his studies as on trial he proved his advanced skills. He has already completed a Bachelor of Biology (Animal Behaviour) and is keen to add to his skills list.
